NRC and HandsOn Greater Richmond offer volunteer opportunity for young people
Hey young people! HandsOn Greater Richmond and the Neighborhood Resource Center are teaming up to offer a youth-only volunteer opportunity for MLK Day 2010:
Come prepared to get dirty as we help get the Perennial Garden ready for spring by adding new soil and stone work to it. Dress: Bring work gloves and wear outdoor work clothes.

Raise $ for the NRC when you use H&R Block to do your taxes!
This year when you have H&R Block do your taxes you can raise money for the Neighborhood Resource Center. As a new client H&R Block will donate $25 to the NRC when you come in with the referral form. Referral forms can be picked up at the NRC, 1519 Williamsburg rd. To redeem the offer bring the form in with your taxes to be prepared between 1/1/10 – 4/15/10. The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation Invests in Job Support
The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation presented the NRC with a $15,000 grant to fund a much needed job support service lab. The lab will be open from 10am to 1pm. Evening hours will also be available by appointment. Job seekers will receive help with typing, on-line applications, job searches, resume writing and interview skills.

Run to the River Makes a Big Splash, Raises Cash!
Race Raises $30K for Youth, Adult Programs
Nearly 160 runners and walkers helped raise approximately $30,000 yesterday in the second annual Rocketts Landing Run to the River. All event proceeds support the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC).
Top “fundrunner” Liz Cramer raised $1,000 to support programs for youth and families with limited means living in Greater Fulton.
MacGregor Lennarz placed first with a time of 39:19 on a challenging course with three steep hills.

It’s not too late to register for the Rocketts Landing Run to the River. It’s a charity run that supports the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC), which provides quality programs and resources to famililes with limited means in the East End.
The event includes:
- a 5K community walk
- a 10K hill run – great for Richmond marathon prep
- a 1K fun run for kids
