Three-alarm fire burns an S.B. Cox Building
The fire was reported a little after 3 a.m. in a industrial structure. At this time the cause is not known.
The building, in the 5200 block of Hatcher Street, just south of Williamsburg Road near the Henrico County line, is a large, steel-siding structure, and the first crews on scene found heavy fire and heard small explosions coming from the structure.
Once it was determined that there were storage tanks on site for acetylene, which is used in welding torches, Richmond firefighters called for more crews from the city as well as Henrico.
