April Community Crime Report

First Precinct – Sector 111
Community Report
April 2010
Lieutenant James J. Laino

During April, the Sector experienced a 32% decrease in Major Crime; an 11% increase in violent crime (9 incidents reported in 2009 compared to 10 in 2010) and a 39% decrease in property crime (59 incidents reported in 2009 compared to 36 in 2010). The 10 violent crimes reported included: 2 Homicides, 4 Aggravated Assaults, 2 Domestic Aggravated Assaults and 2 Commercial Robberies. Of the 10 violent incidents reported 4 have been cleared by arrest, 1 was cleared as a result of the death of the offender and the remaining 5 are still being investigated by detectives. The current trend in Property Crime remains to be thefts related to motor vehicles; however the trend appears to be slowing. This month there were 16 vehicles broken into, 3 vehicles and 3 mopeds stolen.

Community Crime Report for December

First Precinct – Sector 111
Community Report
December 2009

I would like to start by thanking the officers and detectives that are assigned to the sector and the citizens who reside and work within the Sector for an exceptional December and 4th Quarter. During the last three months of the year, Sector 111 had the largest crime reduction in the City; a 29% reduction in Major Crime (a 13% reduction in violent crime and a 31% reduction in property crime). This was the second year we experienced a crime reduction in the 4th quarter; in 2008 there was a 10% reduction. This was made possible by the collaborative effort between the police and the community. The officers and detectives focused on specific crimes in target areas while the citizens were kept abreast of crime trends and provided assistance in solving problems. I look forward to building upon the present relationships with the citizens, businesses and civic associations in the New Year.
