The Greater Fulton Hill Civic Association as we know it today, began in 1981 when former Fire Chief John Finnegan gathered neighbors together to address issues on Fulton Hill.

The name, Greater Fulton Hill, was selected to indicate that the association includes the residents of Fulton, Fulton Hill, and Montrose Heights.
