Bullets in the Streets
This evening around 5:00 pm (Monday 01/11/10), witnesses described a running gun battle starting in the alley between National and Carlisle. Two adolescent males were seen ducking behind a fence, planning their shot, then one lifted a gun and started shooting at four youths dressed in black walking toward Government Rd on National St. Several of the youths in black pulled guns and gave chase up the alley to the youths in white. A few minutes later the youths in black were seen at the parking lot of the Hamidi Mart being picked up by a large dark colored sedan which drove off down Government. At approx 5:10pm the first police arrived on scene and began driving the surrounding streets. Ten to fifteen shots were fired in total. Police have recovered several casings of .22 calibre and 9mm. Electrical contractors were called to repair a power line on Montgomery St. where they recovered a 9mm copper slug that shorted the line and left people in the blocks nearby without power for about an hour.

What’s that terrible noise?
I was walking my dog early this morning in Montrose Heights and there was a terrible, loud industrial buzzing noise coming from the river, it seemed. I could hear it all over the neighborhood, but particularly Accomac-Fenton-Newman area.
Does anyone know what this noise is, where it is coming from, and how we can get it to stop? I don’t know if it’s still going on this afternoon.

Neighborhood Watch Alert
About 9:20 PM this evening I caught a young black male looking through my door window on my front porch. When he saw me he knocked on the door, I then opened the door a crack with my two dogs by my side. The man claimed he had been robbed on Jennie Scher at the apartment complex and wanted to use my phone. I told him I would be more than happy to call the police for him but he refused. He became increasingly persistent about using my phone, even at one point turning his pockets inside out to show he didn’t have a weapon, finally he asked for directions to a store to use a phone claiming he was lost and didn’t know the area. I gave him directions to a store on Williamsburg rd., he then took off on foot heading down Accomac st.

Beagle shot and killed by Chesterfield Animal Control
So I know this is in no way Fulton related but I thought I would share. As an animal lover I am outraged and agree that the officer should lose his job. Imagine if this happened in our neighborhood?! Luckily I have never heard of Richmond Animal Control being so heartless.
“He pulled the gun out and shot the dog. Shot him in the hip. The dog fell in the street. He couldn’t get back up and then bent down, and put the gun to the dog’s head, up against his head, and pulled the trigger,” said Davis.
