Spring Yard Sale at the NRC this coming Saturday!

It’s that time of year again! The Neighborhood Resource Center is having their Spring yard sale this Saturday, May 8th from 8:00am to 2:30pm. Donations for the yard sale can be dropped off at the NRC any day this week between 8am and 6pm.

Not sure what to donate? Clothes, toys and household items are always good ideas. All proceeds will benefit the NRC.

April Community Crime Report

During April, the Sector experienced a 32% decrease in Major Crime; an 11% increase in violent crime (9 incidents reported in 2009 compared to 10 in 2010) and a 39% decrease in property crime (59 incidents reported in 2009 compared to 36 in 2010). The 10 violent crimes reported included: 2 Homicides, 4 Aggravated Assaults, 2 Domestic Aggravated Assaults and 2 Commercial Robberies. Of the 10 violent incidents reported 4 have been cleared by arrest, 1 was cleared as a result of the death of the offender and the remaining 5 are still being investigated by detectives. The current trend in Property Crime remains to be thefts related to motor vehicles; however the trend appears to be slowing. This month there were 16 vehicles broken into, 3 vehicles and 3 mopeds stolen.

Cap2Cap Bike Ride Saturday May 8

The Cap2Cap Bicycle Event is being held this Saturday May 8 in our area. The event is a bicycle ride between Richmond and Williamsburg, and the start/finish is at Rocketts Landing. There will be many cyclists on the roads all day, so please take extra care when driving in the area and down towards Varina on Saturday. This is a great event to have in the area, bringing cyclists from all over Virginia.

Poker Run to benefit the NRC!

Poker Run to benefit NRC!

Drive through the scenic VA countryside while raising money for Fulton’s grassroots community center! On Sat., May 22, IBEW Local 666 and Truland Service will sponsor a Poker Run to benefit the Neighborhood Resource Center. The run starts at the NRC and ends with a BBQ at the union hall.
