The Richmond SPCA is holding another Microchip Clinic Nov 2
The Richmond SPCA is holding a microchip clinic on November 2 between 4 and 7 p.m. The cost is $20 per pet. Pre-registration is highly recommended to secure your spot.The last clinic they held filled up very quickly.
About Registration
Walk-ins may be accommodated but pre-registration is highly recommended to guarantee your space. Advance registration is available online only, via credit or check card.

GFN site downtime
As you probably noticed the site was down yesterday but as you can see the site is back up and running. The domain name had expired and I wasn’t aware. However, in the next two weeks I will be moving the site from one web host to another, so there may be brief down-times. I’ll try to keep them short.

Next Greater Fulton Hill Civic Association meeting is October 13
The Greater Fulton Hill Civic Association meets on the second Tuesday of even months: February, April, June, October, and December. Meetings are at the Neighborhood Resource Center at 1519 Williamsburg Road at 7PM. The next Greater Fulton Hill Civic Association meeting is October 13, 2009.

Baby found abandoned in the East End will be up for adoption soon

New details about a baby boy found abandoned more than a month ago in Henrico county. The child will be put up for adoption soon but police still want your help in finding his parents.
At Henrico Social Services, the process will soon begin to terminate the parents’ rights so the baby boy can be adopted. Both officials there and police say it’s important the child’s mother come forward.

Calling all Greater Fulton walkers, runners and kids! Help support local education and arts programs for kids by registering for the Rocketts Landing Run to the River, a charity run to support the Neighborhood Resource Center. The event includes:

Tomorrow is the Last Run to the River Training Day!
Last Run to the River Training Walk tomorrow, Saturday October 10th!
Don’t miss your last chance to train for the Run to the River 10K! We’ll meet at the NRC at 1519 Williamsburg Road at 7:15 a.m. and leave at 7:30 a.m. The training will run rain or shine. Bring your own water bottle and sunscreen. Depending on the desire of the group, we will walk the 10K or the 5K route. Once back at the Center, we will have coffee, juice, and Country Style donuts in the NRC garden.

Have Money Work for You
There will be a financial education workshop at the Powhatan Hill Community Center (5051 Northampton Street) on Monday, October 12 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. We promise it will not be another boring seminar of information you already know. The following will be covered: 1) The Rule of 72; 2) The Power of Compound Interest; 3) common errors consumers make; 4) Reverse Mortgages; 5) How to plan for retirement. All of this in 1 hour or less. If you want to expand your financial knowledge and work towards making your dreams a reality, make plans to hang out with us for about one hour. Light refreshments and a free individual plan will be available to all who attend this event.
