Richmond Police investigate shooting in the East End
From the Richmond Times Dispatch

Police were called at about 7:15 a.m. to the 1400 block of Melton Avenue, near the southwestern tip of Oakwood Cemetery, for a report of a man down.
The first officers on scene found an unresponsive male at a one-story bungalow. The victim appeared to have been shot in the head, police said.
The house where the body was found had recently been purchased, and the new owner came to the house this morning to meet utility crews before finding the body on a porch behind some overgrown bushes, police said.
Police secured the area and called detectives and crime-scene technicians. Melton was closed to traffic from Oakwood Avenue to S Street.

Blacklisted Renters List
A National company Do Not Rent To has created a database service for Landlords to use to look up prospective renters, rental history.
“For only $30 landlords can search your name and learn if there is anything in your past that should keep them from renting to you.” – NBC12

The service provides information such as your social security number, drivers license number, date of birth and anything else a past Landlord wishes to divulge about you. What can a renter do about it? Absolutely nothing. The service is legal and a renter can’t dispute any of the information that may be in the database about them. If you want to see if your name is on the list you will have to pay the $30 dollar account fee to find out. For the full article see NBC12.

Fulton Area Neighborhood Watch ALERT
Lt. Laino from the 1st precinct is pleading that we all watch for groups of young men preying on properties, mostly during the day, but also at night. There has been a great spike in burglaries in the last two months or so in Fulton Hill, Montrose Heights and Fulton (Bottom.)
He asked that we all keep our eyes open for kids, most have been under 18, in groups of 2-4 wandering into people’s property and busting out windows, often in the back of houses, mostly when owner’s are at work, and stealing property.
His message below states that when the police have asked questions in the areas most recently hit, many of the people the police questioned said that they had in fact seen suspicious people in the area when the crimes were committed but very few have reported questionable or unreasonable behavior and trespassing.
PLEASE PLEASE share this information with at least five friends and or neighbors or preferably your whole block. The First Precinct needs help right now to quell this.
Call 911, or non-emergency 646-5100
