Hey Everyone,

A few years ago I came up with a way to get out of Christmas shopping. I have a foster child in Honduras. I send an extra check to her family each year and I tell my family that’s where their presents went. They are all for it, in fact, they have decided to make a donation to the NRC instead of buying me gifts this year. I’m thinking everybody has someone on their Christmas list who is hard to buy for, people who already have too much stuff.

what is the future of the East End Library?

The folks at the East End Library are asking for your input on the future of the of the lil’ library on 25th Street. The City of Richmond’s City of the Future project has provided funding to renovate all the Richmond Public Library branches. Library consultants and architectural/engineering firm will hold a meeting on Thursday, December 11, 2008, at the library to hear from our community about what you want our renovated library to look like.

another shooting on Darbytown Road

The RTD is reporting that a man was shot in the leg at around 9PM in the 1300 block of Darbytown Road and that “the victim was not cooperating with police, and that no arrest had been made”. (previously)

drug bust on Blueridge Avenue

On Monday, members of the Richmond Police Department’s Command Staff walked through the Fulton Hill area to meet with people and discuss their concerns. As a result, a possible drug house was identified in the 5200 block of Blue Ridge Avenue. Richmond Special Investigation Detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for the address and found more than one pound of marijuana, two handguns and almost $1,000 in cash.

Holiday Trash Pickup Schedule

As Reported By Church Hill People’s News

In observance of the Winter Holiday, all City of Richmond offices will be closed Thursday, December 25 and Friday, December 26. The City’s Solid Waste Management Division will not operate on Thursday, December 25, but will resume collection for residents on Friday, December 26. Trash pick-up regularly scheduled for Thursday and Friday will be delayed by one day. Therefore, Thursday routes will be serviced on Friday and Friday routes will be serviced on Saturday.
