The Grand Opening of the Shops at WhiteOak Village off of Laburnum ave is set for Oct 13, 2008.

Here are a few stores that we are finally getting out in our area. Though I can’t believe we are not getting a Barnes and Noble…hopefully that will be coming.

The Greater Fulton Hill Civic Association will be hosting a “Meet Your Candidates” forum on Tuesday, October 21^st at the Powhatan Hill Community Center.  Once again, we are co-sponsoring this debate/forum with The Church Hill Association. The same councilperson and school board member for the 7th District represents Church Hill and Greater Fulton.

We will all pose questions to the Richmond mayoral candidates and hear the platforms of our council and school board candidates. WRIR (97.3 FM) has expressed interest in broadcasting our forum.

Come out October 21^st at 7:00 PM at the Powhatan Hill Community Center.  Meet your candidates.  Ask your questions.  Make your voice heard!

Can you envision what the Varina district of Henrico County will look like in 5 years…10 years…20 years? There will be a presentation and hands-on working group discussion on the 2026 Comprehensive Plan for Henrico County on Monday Sept 15.

Join us for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and bid on hot bags some designed by Richmond celebrities Lisa Schaffner, Faye Prichard, Susan Youngs, Frankie Slaughter, Carolyn Cios, Susie Galvez and Mollee Sullivan. The Richmond Education Association (REA) announced on Friday their recommendations for Richmond School Board, Richmond City Council and Mayor for the elections this November, which include Delores McQuinn and Don Coleman in the 7th District and Dwight Jones for mayor.

Please join us at the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC) for up to date information on what is happing in your community. We meet on the second Tuesdays of even months (Oct, Dec, Feb, April, and June). This a great time to meet other people just like yourselves, make new friends and get caught up on the latest information concerning your community. For those who have just move in our neighborhood please fill free to pick up a “new neighbor packet” it is full of information we put together just for you. Our first meeting will be next month October 14, 2008, look forward to seeing you there.
