Shots fired in Fulton Hill community

From NBC12 Breaking news: Shots fired in Fulton Hill community:

The shooting happened around 10:15 a.m. in the 1200 block of Millwood Road in the Fulton Hill area. Random shots were fired, no one was hit. Police say they recovered a car in this situation. And someone stole a bike. No description is available at this time for the suspect officials are searching for.

Officials do believe this shooting is related to the incident yesterday. This shooting today in the Fulton Hill community happened about six blocks away from the Powhatan pool. Officials do believe both incidents are tied together. Officials don’t believe it is a problem at the pool but, believe it is a bigger problem in the Fulton Hill community.

They are working with Henrico Police to pick up a few people right now.

In regards to yesterday’s shooting, Richmond Police have found Ronshjae McCray, 19; they have him on charges unrelated to this incident. He has not been charged with this shooting. The interim police chief says they are trying to see if he is connected still but, they have not charged him with anything with this shooting.

Officials are canvasing the area, they say they have gotten some really good leads today and they are hoping to make some arrests soon.

Police are still trying to find the people involved in yesterday’s shooting, where police say a teen was shot shot in the chest on Northhampton Street in the Fulton Hill neighborhood. He was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition.

The Powhatan pool in the Fulton Hill area will not open today. The park and recreation will remain open. But, expect to see a heavy police presence in the area.

Richmond Police have arrested 19-year-old Karriem Brown of the 1100 block of Mt. Erin Drive.

The RTD has a piece on this, too:

Yesterday’s incident again drew police to the Fulton Hill area, even as a small contingent of neighbors began a protest against crime.

“We’re here to say that we want the thugs out. We are not putting up with this anymore,” said Shirley Jackson, who joined neighbors to protest increased criminal activity on the Goddin Court cul-de-sac a block from the pool. The activist neighbors call themselves the Fulton Seven.

Jackson said she saw possible suspects in a shooting incident Monday streak by her home, which sits on a street of prim, 30-year-old houses.

On summer nights, though, the street swarms with drug dealers and prostitutes, attracting up to 200 vehicles a night, Jackson said.

“No one is doing anything about it and if I have to die, I’m going to die for something” important, she said, explaining her outspokenness.

With fewer than a dozen homes and a striking view of City Hall, Goddin Court is a block long. Neighborhood children are kept off the street day and night, and residents there say criminal activity is spilling into the broader Fulton Hill neighborhood.

I was wondering the same thing…I googled it but no luck. Maybe NBC12 made a typo? Wouldn’t surprise me.

It is probably Nelwood Dr. parallel to Mt. Erin.
