Woodcroft Village to see redevelopment as affordable housing complex
From Style Weekly’s Tiki Barber’s Fulton Project Gets Green Light:
Former
New York GiantsUniversity of Virginia running back Tiki Barber will redevelop Woodcroft Village, a 250-unit apartment complex at the corner of Jennie Scher and Government roads in the East End neighborhood. Earlier this month, the state awarded $2.2 million in low-income housing tax credits to Barber. In return, Barber’s firm, Tiki Ventures LLC, and its partner, New York City-based Related Affordable, pledge to keep the rent in the government-prescribed “affordable” bracket for the next 50 years, says Joanna Rose, a Related spokeswoman. They plan to close on the developments either late this year or early next year, she says.

Just testing.
Are these the apartments that have been recently rentivated. Facing the cemetary and next to the place where you can get free mulch?
nope, those are the ‘Villas at Oakwood’.

I’ve seen Mr. Barber talking about his life and businesses on T.V.(thanks to my foot ball loving mate). I’m sure he’ll turn a pretty penny or two.
So will they be demolishing the old structures for new ones? That is a flood zone is it not?
What’s wrong with the NY Giants?
its more vital that tiki barber be associated with UVA. incidently theres nothing wrong with the NY giants. I’m glad they beat the patriots!
Nothing, really, I was just playing with that because that’s where I knew his name from.
These apartments also qualify through VHDA to be EarthCraft certified. I work for EarthCraft Virginia and we are a state-side green building program. Our multifamily program provides quality low-income housing projects for the state. Once Woodcroft Village is complete, the residents will enjoy cleaner air, cheaper utility bills, and the satisfaction of living in a “green building.” This is such a positive move for our Fulton Community.
