Civic Association Hosts Document Shredding at NRC

The Greater Fulton Hill Civic Association is renting a truck sized paper shredder on Saturday, May 17.  The event will be in the parking lot of the Neighborhood Resource Center at 1519 Williamsburg Road from 9:00 AM until noon.  Bring out your old cancelled checks, tax records, credit card bills, and any other documents that you want to dispose of.  This for paper documents only, not magazines and newsprint.

The process will turn your documents into an unrecognizable pulp so you won’t have to worry about identity theft.  We ask you to consider making a small donation (not required!) to offset the cost of renting the machine.  Refreshments will be provided.  Invite your friends and lighten the load from your closets, filing cabinets, and under your bed!

Woodcroft Village to see redevelopment as affordable housing complex

From Style Weekly’s Tiki Barber’s Fulton Project Gets Green Light:

Former New York Giants University of Virginia running back Tiki Barber will redevelop Woodcroft Village, a 250-unit apartment complex at the corner of Jennie Scher and Government roads in the East End neighborhood. Earlier this month, the state awarded $2.2 million in low-income housing tax credits to Barber. In return, Barber’s firm, Tiki Ventures LLC, and its partner, New York City-based Related Affordable, pledge to keep the rent in the government-prescribed “affordable” bracket for the next 50 years, says Joanna Rose, a Related spokeswoman. They plan to close on the developments either late this year or early next year, she says.
